MEXICAN DUBBING

Let's talk about Edmundo Santos. Hispanic-America knows very llittle about him even though he was one of the biggest celebrities in the world.  Most of those who are in the animation business are aware of his significance.  According to his daughter Diana, son Tony and friends, he was very handsome. They say he was as "handsome as Rudolph Valentino."  He was moderator of  a radio show in Tijuana entitled "La Sartén y la Cuchara" which means "The Pan and The Spoon."

One day, Santos started to make remarks in the microphone about Disney's lyrics indicating how badly they were written. He said they were  "Out of rhythm, awful rhymes and musical accents were out of place."    Disney Studios then, in Burbank, California, called him for an appointment.

When he attended the meeting he said "I entered a Great Hall and I remember a man was sitting in front of a piano waiting for me.  Another man appeared, as he started to talk... I'm tired of hearing your comments about my movies..." the man said.  He went on to say  "Here... it's a score,  about an adaptation of a new production which is called Pinocchio."  That man was Walt Disney.

Since then, they became very good friends and Walt used to give Edmundo a nickname, "Pancho" because of the movie "The Three Caballeros" and "Saludos Amigos" for the character "Pancho Pistolas."
